Abstract
The present invention provides autonomous replication sequences (ARSs) isolated fromthat support the replication of episomal DNA molecules (EDMs) in eukaryotic cells. The ARSs and EDMs provided herein can be used for expressing genes in organisms including algae and heterokonts.
