Abstract
To provide a liquid crystal compound satisfying at least one of physical properties such as high stability to light, a high clearing point, low minimum temperature of a liquid crystal phase, small viscosity, suitable optical anisotropy, large dielectric anisotropy, a suitable elastic constant, excellent compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds and a large dielectric constant in a minor axis direction. The compound is represented by formula (1). For example, Ris alkyl having 1 to 15 carbons; rings Ato Aare 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene; Wis a group represented by formula (1a) or (1b); Wis a group represented by formula (1c) or (1d); Yto Yand Lto Lare fluorine; Zto Zare —(CH)— or —OCH—; Xis fluorine, —CFor —OCF; and a to d are 0 or 1, and a sum of a to d is 3 or less.
