Abstract

A process is described for preparing 4-haloalkyl-3-mercapto-substituted 2-hydroxybenzoic acid derivatives of the general formula (I) by reaction of 4-thio-substituted β-keto esters of the formula (II) with alkoxyvinyl haloalkyl ketones of the formula (III) in the presence of a base. In the above formulae, X, R, Rand Rare each hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy and cycloalkyl.
