Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a network node, and corresponding method, for conference handling. The method comprises receiving an invitation, from an initiating user equipment, to create an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) conference, the invitation comprising a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) associated with the initiating user equipment. The method further comprises obtaining a conference focus identifier associated with a conference focus unit hosting the IMS conference, and compiling a mapping of the URI and the conference focus identifier. The method also comprises receiving, from a participating user equipment, a communication request comprising the URI associated with the initiating user equipment, and forwarding, based on the mapping, the participating user equipment to the IMS conference associated with the conference focus identifier.
