Abstract
A sheet conveying apparatus includes first and second rotator pairs and a sheet detecting portion. The sheet detecting portion includes a moving member provided to move to a detection state from a standby state in which the moving member protrudes into a sheet conveying path by being pressed by a front end of the sheet conveyed by the first rotator pair and such that a rear end of the sheet does not pass within a moving trajectory of the moving member in moving from the detection state to the standby state and a sensor detecting the sheet based on the move of the moving member from the standby state to the detection state.
