Abstract

A sensor () serves for capturing the moving material web (). It has light sources (') and at least one light detector (). The light sources (′) generate emission light () having different polarization. The polarization state of the emitted light can be influenced by selecting or mixing the emission light () of the light sources (′). Markings such as for example metal strips () in the material web () can thus be captured with the light detector () without problem.
