Abstract

A part made of a porous material containing carbon, in particular a C/C composite material, is protected against oxidation by being impregnated with a composition in an aqueous medium containing at least a phosphorous compound, elemental titanium, and boron or a boron compound other than titanium diboride, to form in the presence of oxygen and at least one alkali or alkaline-earth element M that catalyzes oxidation of carbon, at least one P—O—Ti-M type association bonded by boron oxide BOand trapping the element M.
