Abstract
A binder for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a copolymer having a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to about 500,000 and including a repeating unit represented by Chemical Formula X and a repeating unit represented by Chemical Formula Y-1: The binder may be used in preparing an electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including the electrode exhibits improved stability, rate capability, and cycle-life.
