Abstract

A method comprises controlling a mobile device comprising one or more wireless interfaces, one or more applications that require the mobile device to communicate wirelessly, and a database, to perform measuring power consumption during wireless communication in each of a plurality of circumstances in which one or more conditions are present for plural combinations of the one or more applications, and the one or more wireless interfaces and/or available access points, for each measurement of power consumption, recording in the database the measured power consumption () along with: information on the associated one or more conditions, and indicators identifying the one of the one or more applications and the one of the one or more wireless interfaces and/or access points (), detecting a requirement of a first one of the one or more applications for wireless communication (), utilizing the database and information on current conditions to identify the wireless interface and/or access point that might be expected to cause the lowest power consumption (), and using the identified interface and/or access point to allow the first application to communicate wirelessly ().
