Abstract

A device discovery method and apparatus of a Wi-Fi Peer-to-Peer (P2P) device for improving connection compatibility with legacy devices are provided. The method includes receiving a command for executing a modified P2P device discovery mode, configuring the Wi-Fi P2P device as a group owner autonomously, entering a group owner receive mode in which a probe request can be received, and discovering an external device which transmits the probe request.
