Abstract
An air ionization monitoring deviceand method is disclosed herein. In a described embodiment, the air ionization monitoring devicecomprises an ion sourceadapted to emit ionsand a capacitorincluding a first conductorarranged to be exposed to the ionsemitted by the ion source, and a second conductorarranged to be shielded from the ionsemitted by the ion source. The monitoring devicefurther includes a commutation circuitoperable between a first configuration for charging the capacitorto a first predefined voltage, and a second configuration for using the ionsemitted by the ion sourceto discharge the capacitorfor a predefined time resulting in the capacitorhaving a second voltage. The deviceis configured to use the first and second voltages to determine an ionic current of the emitted ions.
