Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus for thermal hydrolysis of organic matter, wherein a heating element () and a cooling element () are provisioned to heat up or cool down the organic matter. Heat exchangers are provisioned as heating element () and cooling element () which exchange heat between the organic matter and a medium. The organic matter and the medium are separate relative to each other within the heat exchangers. A throttle () and a decompression tank () are provisioned between the heating element () and the cooling element ().
