Abstract

The invention relates to a method for determining the soil stiffness (k) of a soil area (). For this purpose, a vibration-excited contact body () of a soil compacting device () acts upon the soil surface () in such a way that during the acting upon an unsteady loss of contact (jumping) between the soil surface () and the contact body () occurs. While acting upon the soil surface, parameters (f) of the oscillation excitation and parameters ({umlaut over (x)}) of the oscillation response (x) of the contact body () are determined and from these in combination with known parameters (m, r, m) of the soil compacting device () the soil stiffness (k) is computed.
