Abstract

A chip resistor includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a resistor portion, a first intermediate layerconnected to the first electrodeand the resistor portion, a second intermediate layerconnected to the second electrodeand the resistor portion, a coating filmcovering the first electrode, and oxides existing in the first intermediate layer. The coating filmis made of a material having a higher absorptance of a laser beam of a predetermined wavelength than that of the material forming the first electrode. The oxides are oxides of the material forming the coating film
