Abstract
The invention provides a production process for a self-dispersible pigment, having a step of bonding a group Rin the following general formula (1) to a particle surface of a pigment by radical addition reaction induced by removal of a hydrogen atom from a compound represented by the general formula (1):HN═N—R  (1)wherein Ris a group having at least one of an aliphatic group and an aromatic group and being substituted with at least one hydrophilic group selected from the group consisting of a carboxylic acid group, a sulfonic acid group, a phosphoric acid group and a phosphoric acid group.
