Abstract
A liquid crystal display panel (A) includes: a first substrate () and a second substrate (), a liquid crystal layer () retained between the first substrate () and the second substrate (), and plurality of pixels. The liquid crystal layer () has a first liquid crystal region () and a second liquid crystal region () provided outside the first liquid crystal region (). The first liquid crystal region () is essentially composed of a nematic liquid crystal material alone, whereas the second liquid crystal region () has a plurality of liquid crystal subregions () containing a nematic liquid crystal material and polymer-containing walls () formed between adjacent ones of the plurality of liquid crystal subregions (). The plurality of pixels include pixels accounting for the first liquid crystal region () and pixels accounting for the second liquid crystal region ().
