Abstract

The present invention is a solution comprising poly(α(1→3) glucan) and an ionic liquid. The solution can further contain a non-solvent that is water or an ionic liquid. The solution is suitable for use as a spinning solution for the preparation of fibers of poly(α(1→3) glucan) without the requirement of first derivatizing the poly(α(1→3) glucan).
