Abstract

The invention provides a dialkyl ether represented by the following formula (1): (wherein each of Rand Rrepresents a C1 to C20 alkyl group, and n is an integer of 1 to 20), and a lubricating base oil and a lubricating oil composition containing the dialkyl ether. The lubricating base oil and the lubricating oil composition exhibit low viscosity, excellent viscosity-temperature characteristics, and high fluidity at low temperature.
