Abstract

The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating tuberculosis, comprising: (a) a pharmaceutically effective amount of a compound represented by the following chemical formula 1; and (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Chemical formula 1 The compound contained as an active ingredient of the present invention inhibits the expression and activity of CO-DH in tubercleso as to effectively block the detoxification of carbon monoxide, which is an important survival factor of tubercle, and is safe for the human body since the compound targets CO-DH which does not exist in the human body. In addition, the compound creates a synergistic effect when combined with a conventional tuberculostatic drug, and thus can be more effective for treating tuberculosis.
