Abstract

A stator for an electric rotary machine includes: a stator core having a plurality of slots; and segmented coils of a plurality of phases (for example, coilsin the embodiment), wherein: the segmented coils of a plurality of phases have pluralities of coil bars which are inserted individually in the plurality of slots in the stator core and which extend substantially in a straight line and pluralities of connection coils which connect together the coil bars of the same phase to thereby make up extending portions; the connection coils each comprise an inner connection coil and an outer connection coil which are disposed in different axial positions; and the inner connection coil faces an outer connection coil of a different phase in an axial direction and the outer connection coil faces the inner connection coil of a different phase in the axial direction.
