Abstract

A two-phase positive electrode material for a lithium battery in which particles of lithium-enriched layered oxide of formula Li(MnNiM)Oare at least partially coated on the surface with a metal oxide of formula LiVO. Such a material is advantageously produced by mixing the lithium-enriched lamellar oxide with at least one precursor of the metal oxide in aqueous solution, followed by thermal treatment at a temperature no lower than 280° C.
