Wireless communication apparatusis disclosed that can make appropriate connections taken the wireless communication capability of the wireless communication apparatus into consideration in WiGig communication. Wireless communication apparatus(first wireless communication apparatus) that performs communication using WiGig includes: storage sectionthat stores capability information indicating wireless communication capability of the first wireless communication apparatus; capability information acquiring sectionthat acquires capability information of a second wireless communication apparatus which is a connection peer of the first wireless communication apparatus from the second wireless communication apparatus; and connection method determining sectionthat determines a role of each of first wireless communication apparatusand the second wireless communication apparatus when the first and the second wireless communication apparatuses are connected, based on the capability information of first wireless communication apparatusand the second wireless communication apparatus.
