Abstract

This invention relates to fuel cells. A fuel celldefines a spacehaving an air/ethanol inletand an outlet source. The operative part of the fuel cell,, includes a pvc substrate, a working electrodeand a counter electrode. A working electrode current collectorextends over the working electrode, whilst a counter electrode current collectorextends across the counter electrode. The electrodes formed from tantalum. At least one of the current collector electrodesare non-conformably depressed into their associated electrode to define a channel for containing electrolyte whereby charge can be transferred to the current collector by ionic exchange.
