Abstract

A reaction product, useful as a viscosity index improver in a lubricating oil, reacting: a) an oil soluble ethylene-alpha olefin copolymer comprising from 10 to less than 80 weight % ethylene and greater than 20 up to 90 weight % of at least one Cto Calpha olefin, having a number average molecular weight from 5,000 to 120,000 and grafted with 0.5 to 5 weight % of an ethylenically unsaturated acylating agent, with b) a hydrocarbyl substituted poly(oxyalkylene) monoamine of the formula: R—(O—CHR—CHR)x-A wherein: Ris a hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 35 carbon atoms; Rand Rare each independently hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl and each Rand Rare independently selected in each —O—CHR—CHR— unit; A is amino, —CHamino or N-alkyl amino having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and x is an integer from 2 to 45.
