Abstract

A device implantable in tissue of a prostate gland or a bladder is described. The device includes a device body, a retrieval portion, a medicament, and a medicament carrier. The device body includes a first end and a second end opposite of the first end. The first end has a sharp tip adapted for penetrating the tissue. The retrieval portion connected to the second end of the device body. The medicament is applied to the device to therapeutically treat the prostate gland or the bladder. The carrier is a hydrogel, a silicone based material, an elastomer, a proteinaceous material, a polyethylene glycol material, a carbohydrate material, or a polysaccharide carbohydrate material that provides controlled delivery of the medicament over a duration of time.
