Abstract

When the user operates a paper feed buttonwhile the access coveris open (steps ST, ST), the printermoves the printheadfrom the printhead-down positionD to the printhead-up positionU, and moves the second paper feed roller pairfrom the nip state to the nip-release state (step ST). When the access coveris then closed, the printerreturns the second conveyance roller pairto the nip state, and returns the printheadto the printhead-down positionD (steps ST, ST). The operation for changing the second conveyance roller pairbetween the nip state and the nip-release state is therefore intuitive, easily understood, and simple for the user.
