Abstract
A cathode active material for a magnesium secondary battery, the cathode active material including a composite transition metal oxide which is expressed by Chemical Formula 1 and intercalates and deintercalates magnesium:MgMaMbO  Chemical Formula 1wherein 0≦x≦1, 0.05≦y<0.5, and −0.3≦d<1, and Ma and Mb are each independently a metal selected from the group consisting of Groups 5 to 12 of the Periodic Table.
