Abstract

In one aspect, an adhesive dispensing systemincludes a dispensing modulehaving an inlet and an outlet, a supplyof hot melt adhesive maintained at low pressure, and a low pressure liquid passagewaycommunicating between the supplyand the inlet of the dispensing module. Liquid material is received through the inlet at a low pressure, and the dispensing modulerapidly develops high pressure at the outletto jet the liquid material from the outlet. In another aspect, an apparatus for jetting liquid material includes a dispenser bodyhaving a liquid chamber. A pistonis movably disposed within the liquid chamber, from a position wherein a piston tipis spaced from a complimentary shaped recess, to a position wherein the piston tipeffectively seals off the recess, then to a position wherein the piston tipis received within the recessto displace a discrete volume of liquid material from the recess
