Abstract

A medical treatment device (), for treating reflux from a stomach () to an esophagus () and for delivering a therapeutic agent to an inner surface of the esophagus (), comprises a valve member (), a lining member (), and a support member (). The valve member () is movable between a closed configuration and an open configuration, in which the valve member () facilitates passage of material between the esophagus () and the stomach (). The valve member () is biased towards the closed configuration and gradually moves over a period of 4 to 10 secs from the open configuration to the closed configuration. The support member () supports the device () relative to the esophagus () and the stomach (). The lining member () lines part of the inner surface of the esophagus () for delivery of a therapeutic agent to the esophagus ().
