Abstract

The laser micro-porator () for porating a biological membrane (), comprises: a) a laser source () that emits a pulsed beam (), the laser source () comprising a laser diode (); b) optics () that modify the pulsed beam to direct a laser beam () of less that 1 mm width on the biological membrane (); c) a deflector () oriented to direct the laser beam () in various directions; d) a laser beam shaping device that reshapes the energy intensity distribution of the laser beam (); and e) a poration controller () that controls the laser source () to create a poration consisting of a plurality of individual pores () in the biological membrane ().
