An article comprising: a heat transfer preventer, the heat transfer preventer comprising: a body portion and one or more convection plates, the one or more convection plates being connected to and extending from the body portion; wherein the body portion includes one or more unitary attachment devices extending therefrom for attachment to a piston, a brake pad, or both.
