Abstract

An absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, panty liner, tampon, diaper, pant diaper, adult incontinence guard, containing a bacterial composition () in a lipid phase (), the bacterial composition containing at least one lactic acid producing bacterial strain. The lipid phase () containing said bacterial composition () is applied on or in a carrier member () which at least before use of the article is impermeable to the lipid phase. The carrier member is located on a wearer facing side of the absorbent structure () so as to prevent significant transfer of the lipid phase into the absorbent structure.
