Abstract
A display device properly corrects chromaticity of display images with achieving high brightness. A liquid crystal display deviceincludes a liquid crystal paneland a backlight unit. The liquid crystal display deviceincludes a pair of boardsand a liquid crystal layerformed of liquid crystals that change their optical characteristics by implication of an electric field. The backlight unitexits light toward the liquid crystal panel. One of the boardsof the liquid crystal panelincludes a color filterincluding color portions R, G, B, Y each in red, green, blue, yellow. The backlight unitincludes LEDsas a light source and each of the LEDs includes an LED chipas a light emission source and a phosphor that is excited by light from the LED chipand emits light. The phosphor includes at least a YAG-based phosphor.
