There is provided a benzocyclobutene compound represented by Formula (1) where n is an integer from 0 to 2, Rand Rare each independently selected from a hydrogen atom and a saturated hydrocarbon group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and A is selected from a direct bond and a substituted or unsubstituted chain saturated divalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
