Abstract
A hot gas path component () including: a metallic substrate () disposed beneath an outer surface () of the component () that is exposed to a hot gas present during operation of an internal combustion engine; a thermal barrier coating (TBC) () disposed on the metallic substrate () and defining a first portion () of the component outer surface (); and a powder metallurgy structure () bonded to the metallic substrate () and in contact with the TBC ().
