Abstract

An absolute value of a deviation of an actual EGR ratio, calculated in a current operational status of an enginefrom a target EGR ratio set on the basis of current operational status of the engineis acquired and is multiplied by a quotient, as gain, acquired from division of a feedback correction amount of opening degree of an EGR valveby an upper limit of the feedback correction amount to determine normality when an acquired product is close to '0' and determine higher degree of abnormality the further the product is away from '0'.
