A conveyance deviceof an inkjet printerhas a discharge rollerdisposed on the downstream side of the printing position A in the forward conveyance direction, and a paper jam detectordisposed on the downstream side of the discharge roller. The paper jam detectorincludes a driven roller, driven pressure roller, and an encoderthat detects the angle of rotation of the driven roller. The driven rollerturns following movement of the continuous paperpassing between the driven rollerand driven pressure roller. The control unitof the inkjet printerdetects occurrence of a paper jam based on the difference between the angle of rotation of the driven rollerand a reference angle of rotation when the conveyance motorcontinues driving after the continuous paper has passed through the conveyance path
