Abstract
A method and apparatus produces high strength aluminum alloy parts from a powder containing L1intermetallic dispersoids. The powder is degassed, sealed under vacuum in a container, heated, consolidated into billet form by vacuum hot pressing. The billet is then shaped into a ring preform by extrusion, forging or rolling. The preform is then ring rolled to form a useful part.
