Abstract
An indirect matrix converter includes a converter () connected through a positive polarity bus () and a negative polarity bus () to an inverter (). A clamp diode () has its anode connected to the positive polarity bus () and has its cathode connected to one end of a capacitor (). The other end of the capacitor () is connected to the anode of a clamp diode () of which cathode is connected to the negative polarity bus (). Upper discharge preventing snubber circuits () are provided for switch devices (through) of the inverter (), and lower discharge preventing snubber circuits () are provided for switch devices (through) of the inverter (). Discharge resistors () of the upper discharge preventing snubber circuits () are connected to the anode of the diode (), and discharge resistors () of the lower discharge preventing snubber circuits () are connected to the cathode of the diode ().
