Abstract

A metering device for use in syringes and pipetting piston-cylinder arrangements; the metering device includes a sealing component and at least one pretensioning component. The sealing component includes a sealing section which has a sealing surface formed on a working surface formed on either the outer surface of the piston rod facing toward the inner wall of the cylinder or on the inner side of the cylinder facing towards the piston rod. The sealing section also has a pretensioning surface for engaging with a plurality of identical pretensioning components for transferring the radial pretensioning force. The plurality of identical pretensioning components are arranged one after the other in the axial direction. The identical pretensioning components include a spring carrier and a plurality of separately formed radial spring segments compliantly supported at least in the radial direction on the spring carrier.
