Abstract

The present invention refers to a method () for identification () of an impairment () within a telecommunication line (), the method () comprising determining () first measurement data (Hlog) that characterize a transfer function of the telecommunication line (). In order to provide a method () for identification of an impairment () within the telecommunication line () that can be applied on the telecommunication line () without interrupting the operation of the line () and that can easily be implemented in connection with existing system such as existing DSL systems, it is suggested that the method () further comprise determining () at least one periodicity interval (Δf, Δf) of oscillations of the transfer function and that the impairment () be identified depending on said determining ().
