Abstract
A brake system for a patient support apparatus having a base frame includes pedals positioned to be moved by a user to move a brake and a mechanism positioned to coordinate movement of the pedals so that downward movement of one pedal positioned adjacent the head end of the base causes movement of the mechanism in a first direction and downward movement of another of the pedals causes movement of the mechanism in a second direction, opposite the first direction.
