Abstract

A compact force multiplying actuatorand its associated valveare disclosed. The actuatorand valveinclude piston headsandand force multiplying load beamsand. Belleville springsandare disposed axially between the piston headsand the load beams. The Belleville springsandact through an output memberto retain a valve memberin a closed position. When pneumatic pressure is applied against the piston headsand, movement of the piston headsandis transferred through a force transfer memberand through the force multiplying load beamsandto move the output memberagainst the bias of the Belleville springsandto allow the valve memberto open.
