Abstract

According to aspects of the present disclosure, a magnetic ranging system is described herein. The magnetic ranging system may comprise a downhole apparatus tool () that is sized to couple to a drill string (). The downhole apparatus () may be included, for example, near-bit within the bottom assembly (BHA). A transmitter () and a receiver () may be coupled to the downhole apparatus (). The system may also comprise a power management system () coupled to the downhole apparatus (). In certain embodiments, the power management system () may selectively provide power to the transmitter () from a first power source () or a second power source () based, at least in part, on an estimated distance to a target well.
