Abstract

A blunt cannula includes a distal portion and a proximal portion. The distal portion has a non-uniform taper defined by a plurality, such as four, differently tapered segments. The proximal portion may additionally or alternatively have a non-circular, such as oval, cross-section. At least the major diameter (D.sub.MAJ) of the proximal portion my taper toward the distal portion.
