Abstract

A nonaqueous electrolyte which is capable of improving the charging and discharging characteristics of a lithium ion rechargeable battery and a lithium ion rechargeable battery with excellent charging and discharging characteristics are provided. The nonaqueous electrolyte is one that is capable of being used in a lithium ion rechargeable battery and includes an electrolytic salt and the compound represented by the following formula (): wherein R, R, and Rmay be the same or different, and represent a hydrogen atom, or a lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkoxycarbonyl group, a lower alkylcarbonyl group, a lower cycloalkyl group or an aryl group, which may be substituted.
