Abstract

An object of the present invention is to provide a means for conveniently producing ethanol with high efficiency from a carbon source derived from a plant biomass resource or the like. The present invention relates to a method for producing ethanol, comprising a step of generating ethanol by culturing basidiomycetes belonging to the genuswith a carbon source. As carbon sources, cellulose, hemicellulose, glucose, xylose, and the like or plant biomass resources containing the same can be used.
