Abstract
To provide a liquid crystal compound having a large positive value of dielectric anisotropy and a small viscosity. The compound is represented by formula (1): wherein, in formula (1), Ris alkyl having 1 to 20 carbons or the like; ring Ais 1,4-cyclohexylene or the like; ring Ais 1,4-phenylene, 2-fluoro-1,4-phenylene, 2,6-difluoro-1,4-phenylene or the like; ring Ais 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene, 2-fluoro-1,4-phenylene, 2,6-difluoro-1,4-phenylene or the like; and Xis halogen, alkyl having 1 to 10 carbons or the like, and in the alkyl, at least one of hydrogen may be replaced by halogen.
