Abstract

An assembly (), including a hydrofoil (), is provided for mounting on the anti-ventilation plate () of a sterndrive or outboard motor () without the need to modify the plate or motor. The hydrofoil () of the assembly () has a series of holes () spaced along its width to receive a series of mounting disk assemblies () having a stepped disk (). A carriage bolt () forming a part of each mounting disk assembly () is placed in the hole () closest the edge () of the plate (), a stepped disk () is placed over the end of the bolt () and the hydrofoil () is clamped on the plate () by tightening nuts () to clamp the plate () between the hydrofoil () and step () of the disk (). Friction material () on the mounting disk assemblies provides firm engagement with the plate (). A catch () can be mounted between the hydrofoil () and the trim tab or anode recess () in the plate ().
