Abstract

An air bag module () comprises an air bag () including a folded package portion () and a mounting portion (). The package portion () has a front side () and a rear side (). The rear side () is that side which faces a vehicle part on which the air bag () is mounted. Additionally provided are a mounting unit () which, with an insertion end () thereof, extends through the mounting portion () and a protective cover () partly enclosing the folded package portion (). In the mounted state, the mounting portion () is located on the rear side () of the package portion (). With its insertion end (), the mounting unit () extends away from the package portion ().
